Kenya’s government has also confirmed that Pope Francis will visit the nation in his first trip to Africa.
Vatican has officially reached out to Kenya’s government and agreed on papal visit. The two governments are still working on the dates.
“The Vatican has formally contacted the government about a visit to Kenya in November. The government has responded in the affirmative. We look forward to this historic visit by the Holy Father,” President Uhuru Kenyatta’s spokesman told Daily Nation
Pope Francis first made his plan to visit Africa public in January this year while speaking to Journalists on a flight from Brazil. Pope Francis said “the trip has been a bit delayed due to Ebola.”
Pope Francis expressed his willingness to visit Uganda in October 2014 when president Museveni paid a courtesy visit to Vatican and invited him to visit Uganda.
He will be the third pope to visit Uganda after John Paul II who came in March 1993 and Pope Paul VI, visited Uganda in August 1969.
